The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to maintain a computerized database containing information on certain persons who have been convicted of offenses with an affirmative finding of family violence. It is assumed the agency could absorb the costs of implementing the provisions of the bill within current appropriations. The bill would take effect immediately upon passge of a two-thirds vote of all members of both chambers; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
