                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 5, 2013      TO: Honorable Abel Herrero, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2258 by Moody (Relating to the confidentiality of certain witness names listed in an indictment.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would allow the use of a pseudonum  in an indictment  instead of the name of the witness if nine members of the grand jury vote that disclosing the name of the witness would place the witness in danger of retaliation, or if the attorney representing the state claims the identity of informer privilege under existing Texas Rule of Evidence 508.   Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
