                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 18, 2013      TO: Honorable Abel Herrero, Chair, House Committee On Criminal Jurisprudence      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB23 by Martinez Fischer (Relating to restrictions on the use of commercial social networking sites by sex offenders; imposing a criminal penalty.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.   The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to require certain registered sex offenders who use commercial social networking websites to include certain information in the person's profile and to ensure the information is viewable by all visitors of the site.  It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current appropriations.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
