                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 29, 2013      TO: Honorable Jimmie Don Aycock, Chair, House Committee on Public Education      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2318 by Aycock (Relating to public school educator preparation and alternative certification programs.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Education Code to require an educator preparation program to provide certain information to certification candidates. The bill would also require the State Board for Educator Certification to review and, as necessary, update standards and requirements for educator preparation and alternative certification programs at least once every five years. The Texas Education Agency indicates that the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by using existing resources. The bill would take effect immediately if approved by appropriate voting majorities, or on September 1, 2013 Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
