The bill would amend the Education Code to require an educator preparation program to provide certain information to certification candidates. The bill would also require the State Board for Educator Certification to review and, as necessary, update standards and requirements for educator preparation programs. The bill would require the commissioner of education to determine the satisfactory level of performance required on certification examinations. The Texas Education Agency indicates that the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by using existing resources. The bill would take effect immediately if approved by appropriate voting majorities, or on September 1, 2013 Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
