The bill would amend the Government Code to allow money from the spaceport trust fund to be used for certain programs related to research conducted onboard the International Space Station. The bill would allow the Texas Economic Development and Tourism Office at the Trusteed Programs within the Office of the Governor to contract with a development corporation for spaceport facilities for the infrastructure development of a spaceport. The Office of the Governor indicates the provisions of the bill could be implemented within existing resources. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
