                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 15, 2013      TO: Honorable Abel Herrero, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2559 by Thompson, Senfronia (Relating to the rights of certain victims of sexual assault.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  In cases involving sexual assault, the victim, the guardian of a victim, or a close relative of a deceased victim would be entitled to the right to: request information regarding evidence and the status of the analysis of evidence; notification of when evidence is being analyzed, the results, and when the DNA profile of a suspect is provided to a state or federal DNA database; and AIDS and HIV counseling and testing as well as a forensic medical examination. The bill would also provide for the notification of the victim of the rights described by the bill.
