The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Government Code, and the Human Resources Code relating to the operations of the Juvenile Justice Department (JJD), including the denial of bail for persons 17 years of age or older who commit certain offenses while confined in a facility operated by or under contract with JJD. JJD, the Office of the Atorney General, and the Department of Public Safety have determined that the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the State. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
