The bill would amend the Labor Code as it relates to an award of attorney's fees in certain workers' compensation cases. The Texas Department of Insurance and the State Office of Risk Management reports that the bill will not have a fiscal impact on the agencies. The Office of Court Administration does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact to the court system resulting from the bill. The change in law would apply only to a workers' compensation claim based on an injury occurring on or after the bill's effective date. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
