                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 20, 2013      TO: Honorable Joe Straus, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB3256 by Kacal (Relating to the eligibility of certain vehicles to be operated as farm vehicles on a road or highway in this state.), As Passed 2nd House    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require persons applying to register certain farm vehicles and farm commercial vehicles or to purchase a permit for certain overweight farm vehicles, to present an agriculture or timber sales tax exemption registration number issued by the Comptroller under the provisions of Section 151.1551(1) of the Tax Code. The bill would require the Comptroller to allow access to the online system established under Section 151.1551(l), Tax Code, to verify a tax exemption registration number.  Based on the information provided by the Comptroller's office and the Department of Motor Vehicles, it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the State. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
