The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to develop a web-based education course on nutrition and wellness for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) clients. The bill would require HHSC to work with community-based organizations to encourage clients to take the online training courses and to submit a report to the legislature regarding data on how many clients viewed the online course and any client feedback. HHSC currently has a similar project under development for SNAP. Based on HHSC analysis, expanding the project to Medicaid and TANF recipients could be accomplished within existing agency resources.
