LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION May 15, 2013 TO: Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB3520 by Branch (Relating to the designation of a segment of U.S. Highway 75 in Dallas County as the George W. Bush Expressway.), As Engrossed No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect highway markers designating a segment of U.S. Highway 75 as the President George W. Bush Expressway contingent upon the department receiving a grant or donation of funds to cover the costs. The bill would require TxDOT to accept a grant or donation made to assist in financing the construction or maintenance of the markers. Section 225.021 (c), Transportation Code, specifies that TxDOT is not required to design, construct, or erect a marker under Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, unless a grant or donation of funds is made to the department to cover the cost. Based on the information provided by TxDOT, it is assumed any duties associated with the implementation of the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.
