                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 22, 2013      TO: Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB3745 by Farrar (Relating to the standards of medical information provided in the informational materials developed by the Department of State Health Services provided to a woman who is considering having an abortion.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Chapter 171 of the Health and Safety Code relating to the standards of medical information provided in the informational materials developed by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) provided to a woman who is considering having an abortion. The bill requires that DSHS only publish information related to Chapter 171 that conforms to standards adopted by the National Institute of Health and its partner organizations. The bill would take effect immediately if a two-thirds majority vote in both houses of the Legislature is received.  Otherwise, the bill would take effect on September 1, 2013. Based on the analysis provided by DSHS, it is assumed that the provisions of the bill can be implemented within existing resources.
