The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to consider using a permeable surface in the construction of detention ponds associated with highway projects and to complete the detention ponds in a manner that would enable it to be used as green space. Based on the information provided by TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
