The bill would amend the Transportation Code relating to accident reports recorded by the Department of Public Safety (DPS), certain requirements for driver's licenses and personal identification certificates, and the appeal process related to the suspension or revocation of a driver's license. Under the bill's provisions, DPS may appeal a decision of a municipal or justice court that does not sustain the suspension or revocation of a driver's license. The Office of Court Administration indicates few appeals are expected and anticipates the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the judiciary or local government. DPS has determined no significant fiscal impact to the State is anticipated. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
