The bill would amend the Family Code to repeal Section 157.162(d) and (e) relating to contempt of court for child support respondents and awarding of attorney fees. The Office of the Attorney General and the Office of Court Administration indicate that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
