The bill would provide that in capital murder cases, a close relative of the deceased victim or guardian of a victim may decline to be contacted by the defendant/defendant's attorney's victim outreach specialist. The close relative or guardian may designate a victim service provider to receive all communications from any victim outreach specialist. The close relative or guardian may have the attorney representing the state notify the defendant/defendant's attorney of the close relative's or guardian's decisions on these matters. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
