                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 26, 2013      TO: Honorable Linda Harper-Brown, Chair, House Committee on Government Efficiency & Reform      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HJR128 by Bonnen, Greg (Proposing a constitutional amendment to authorize the legislature to convene following each regular session of the legislature to consider the repeal of  or correction of recently enacted laws.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, other than the cost of publication.  The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $108,921.  The resolution would authorize the legislature to convene to consider the repeal of  or the correction of typographical errors in laws passed during the preceding regular session. A petition calling for the Legislature to convene must be filed with the presiding officers of both houses no later than the 30th day after the last day the governor may file objections to bills. If these requirements are met, the legislature is authorized to convene the first Tuesday following the 30th day after the petition is filed for a period not to exceed three consecutive days. Members of the legislature would be paid their per diem for the three day session, but this amount is not anticipated to be significant.
