No. 1040 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Students of the Harmony Science Academy--San Antonio have generously contributed their time, energy, and resources to help improve the lives of others; and WHEREAS, During the past seven years, students of the academy have helped to make the Alamo City an even better place to live by participating in cleanup initiatives, feeding the hungry, building housing, providing recreational activities for area youth, and helping senior citizens; and WHEREAS, In addition to these worthwhile efforts, the school has held toy drives, assisted children of military families through the HOPE Foundation's Worldwide Holiday Program, and supported victims of tragic events and devastating natural disasters; and WHEREAS, Members of the National Honor Society have worked to benefit charitable organizations across the city, including the San Antonio Food Bank, the Mission Continues, the Humane Society, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the USO, the Wounded Warriors Foundation, and the American Red Cross; and WHEREAS, Distinguished by their leadership and volunteerism, the notable young people of Harmony Science Academy--San Antonio have contributed to the well-being of our state while learning important lessons for the future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby recognize May 12-18, 2013, as Harmony Science Academy--San Antonio Community Service Week and commend all those associated with the school for their dedicated efforts in behalf of their fellow residents; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the institution as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
