R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For three decades, the ESCAPE Family Resource Center
has provided vital support to at-risk families and children in the
greater Houston area; and
WHEREAS, ESCAPE works to prevent child abuse through a
variety of educational programs and services; respected for its
disciplined operations and responsible management, the center has
demonstrated a steadfast commitment to protecting the most
vulnerable members of the community since its establishment in
1983; and
WHEREAS, Collaborating with other nonprofits, ESCAPE has
expanded its reach by 2,700 percent in the past 12 years, with more
than 60,000 parents and children accessing its classes; topics
range from dealing with divorce and building confidence to
parenting children with special needs; the group's efforts not only
make a positive difference on an individual level, but they also
contribute to the reduction of overall domestic abuse cases, an
issue that currently costs the state $2.3 billion per year; and
WHEREAS, The ESCAPE Family Resource Center has long made a
positive difference in countless lives by providing intervention,
education, and support to families in crisis, and the significance
of its outstanding work continues to resonate in the Bayou City and
beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby commend the ESCAPE Family Resource Center for
its efforts to create safe and happy homes for area residents and
extend to its leaders, staff, and volunteers sincere appreciation
for their immeasurable contributions to the community; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
