 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The University Breast Care Center of the Texas Tech
 University Health Sciences Center at El Paso has received
 accreditation through the National Accreditation Program for
 Breast Centers; and
 WHEREAS, The national accreditation program is a consortium
 of professionals dedicated to improving breast cancer remedies and
 outcomes; to be recognized, providers must furnish specific
 elements of care and comply with rigid standards on leadership,
 quality improvement, professional instruction, and scientific
 analysis; and
 WHEREAS, Founded in 1994 to provide comprehensive breast
 disease therapy to medically indigent women in El Paso, the UBCC
 also serves as a teaching environment for medical students,
 coordinates community outreach and education, and conducts
 research; and
 WHEREAS, Nearly one-third of all new breast cancer diagnoses
 in El Paso take place at the center, which is the only nationally
 accredited breast care program in El Paso; and
 WHEREAS, Staff of the University Breast Care Center are
 fighting this devastating disease with vision, passion, and
 tenacity, and their work is making a positive difference in the
 lives of countless people; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the University Breast Care Center
 of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso for
 achieving accreditation from the National Accreditation Program
 for Breast Centers and extend to its administrators and medical
 staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
