No. 1210 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce named Lucilla Henderson of Lake Jackson its 2011 Woman of the Year; and WHEREAS, A longtime area resident, Lucilla Henderson attended Brazoswood High School and Brazosport College before earning a bachelor's degree in business administration from Texas State University--San Marcos in 1982; she subsequently worked as the general manager of Brazos Mall for 18 years, and she currently serves as vice president of marketing at the Texas Dow Employees Credit Union in Lake Jackson; and WHEREAS, Deeply engaged in her community, Ms. Henderson has served on the Brazosport College Board of Regents since 2007, and she also serves on the executive committee that is coordinating Lake Jackson's 70th anniversary celebration in 2013; in addition, she has been involved with Junior Achievement of Brazoria County, the Economic Development Alliance for Brazoria County, SPCA of Brazoria County, the Brazoria County Association for Citizens with Handicaps Roll 'N Stroll event, the youth ministry at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Lake Jackson, and the Lake Jackson Development Corporation; moreover, she formerly chaired the Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and she created the first Senior Fest in the Brazosport area; and WHEREAS, Ms. Henderson was named a Distinguished Alumnus of Brazosport College in 2004, in recognition of her myriad contributions to Brazoria County; she is also a Paul Harris Fellow of the Brazosport Rotary Club; and WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Lucilla Henderson enjoys the love and support of her husband of 30 years, Eric Henderson, and their three children, Indy, Audrey, and Emily; and WHEREAS, Lucilla Henderson embodies the spirit of public service that is the lifeblood of American communities, and she is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Lucilla Henderson on her designation as the 2011 Woman of the Year by the Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Henderson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
