 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Association of the United States Army 4th
 Region, which encompasses chapters from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas,
 and Louisiana, is holding its annual conference in Austin on April
 4-6, 2013; and
 WHEREAS, Since 1950, the AUSA has worked to support all
 aspects of national security while advancing the interests of the
 United States Army and the men and women who serve; and
 WHEREAS, The association is a private nonprofit organization
 that assists active personnel, members of the National Guard and
 reserve, retirees, wounded warriors, and veterans, as well as
 government civilians and family members; AUSA fosters public
 support of the army's role in national security and provides
 informational presentations and numerous professional development
 opportunities at a variety of events both local and national; and
 WHEREAS, With 122 chapters worldwide, the association is made
 up entirely of volunteers; chapters provide educational and
 recreational programs to soldiers and their families, support
 deployed soldiers and the loved ones they leave behind, and to date
 have contributed more than $2 million to awards, scholarships, and
 other initiatives benefiting soldiers and their families; and
 WHEREAS, The Association of the United States Army speaks out
 for the men and women of the United States Army who proudly serve
 our country, and the organization is dedicated to furthering the
 values of excellence, innovation, professionalism, inclusiveness,
 integrity, and responsiveness; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the Association of the United States
 Army 4th Region 2013 conference and recognize the visiting
 delegations from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana for the
 work they do in support of the military; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
