 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Erika Vazquez of Los Encinos Special Emphasis School
 has been chosen as the 2013 Elementary Teacher of the Year by the
 Corpus Christi Independent School District; and
 WHEREAS, For 25 years, Corpus Christi ISD has recognized
 teachers through this prestigious program, and 57 area campuses
 participated in the 2013 program by submitting the name of a faculty
 nominee; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Vazquez embarked on her career in education in
 2005, and she has taught fourth-grade students at Los Encinos for
 the past six years; she holds a bachelor's degree in early education
 with a bilingual certification and a master's degree in school
 counseling from Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi; encouraging
 her students to incorporate hands-on activities and real-world
 experiences into their studies, she also works to provide a
 positive and nurturing environment in her classroom; and
 WHEREAS, Teaching is a profession that calls for character,
 passion, and commitment, and Erika Vazquez has demonstrated those
 qualities in abundance while working to equip her students with a
 sound academic foundation on which to build; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Erika Vazquez on her selection as
 the 2013 Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Corpus Christi
 Independent School District and extend to her sincere best wishes
 for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Vazquez as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
