No. 1245 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dr. Sandra Clement of the Corpus Christi Independent School District has been named the 2013 Texas Middle School Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals; and WHEREAS, Each year, TASSP pays tribute to school administrators throughout Texas who have demonstrated exceptional performance and leadership; nominations for the award are submitted by peers, parents, and students, and recipients are eligible for consideration as the national principal of the year; and WHEREAS, Dr. Clement is being recognized for her four years as principal at South Park Middle School; during her tenure, she significantly reduced the number of students performing below grade level on state assessments and established an advanced placement academy in which 98 percent of the pupils achieved straight A's in a college prep environment; she has identified student achievement and safety as her top priorities and encourages cooperation and collaboration among students, teachers, parents, and the community; and WHEREAS, Born and raised in Robstown, Sandra Clement attended Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where she earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies, master's degrees in guidance and counseling and educational administration, and a doctoral degree in education; during her 18-year career, she has also served as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, and district special programs coordinator; she was recently appointed principal of Foy H. Moody High School in CCISD; and WHEREAS, Dr. Sandra Clement's dedication to her profession has made a positive difference in the lives of countless young Texans, and she is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Sandra Clement on her selection as the 2013 Texas Middle School Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in her important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Clement as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
