H.R. No. 127 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Words cannot express the sorrow felt at the untimely death of George Robert Long III of Crandall, who passed away on December 13, 2011, at the age of 19; and WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on May 1, 1992, to George Robert "Bob" Long and Sharon Benson Long, Robert Long was raised in Crandall, where he distinguished himself as a talented athlete who played football, baseball, and basketball; he was also a member of the National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta math club, and he competed in University Interscholastic League events and served on the student council; he graduated as the valedictorian of his class in 2011; and WHEREAS, Mr. Long was in his first year at Texas A&M University, studying animal science with the hope of one day becoming a veterinarian; he belonged to Central Baptist Church in Crandall and participated actively in church outreach efforts, taking part in a mission trip to New Mexico and helping with a homeless ministry in Dallas; friends and family recall his selflessness and his radiant smile; and WHEREAS, Although his time on this earth ended far too soon, Robert Long brought much joy into the lives of his loved ones, and he will forever be remembered with great tenderness and affection by all those who knew him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George Robert Long III and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his parents, George Robert "Bob" and Sharon Benson Long; to his brother, Matthew Ryan Long; to his grandmothers, Dorothy Long and Nell Callaway; to his honorary grandmother, Inez Davis; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George Robert Long III.
