H.R. No. 1313 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Robert West has been selected as the 2013 Teacher of the Year at Denton High School for his exceptional work with students on that campus; and WHEREAS, Since joining the Denton High faculty in 2009 as leader of the school's Air Force Junior ROTC program, Colonel West has worked tirelessly to create a positive learning environment for his students, who have found in him a steadfast mentor and ally; his love for his work and dedication to his craft are readily apparent to all who know him; and WHEREAS, Colonel West attended the University of Maine before joining the United States Air Force; he flew planes for 24 years, and during the course of his career he was charged with helping to protect the airspace over the White House in Washington, D.C.; and WHEREAS, Robert West has inspired in his students a zeal for learning that will serve them well throughout their lives, and he can indeed take pride in the deep respect and appreciation that he has earned in his new vocation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Lieutenant Colonel Robert West on his selection as the 2013 Denton High School Teacher of the Year and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Lieutenant Colonel West as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
