 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Calderon Branch of the Boys and Girls Clubs of
 San Antonio helps young people realize their full potential as
 productive, responsible, and caring citizens and is indeed worthy
 of recognition for its contributions to the community; and
 WHEREAS, The Calderon Branch of the Boys and Girls Clubs
 serves more than 1,900 youth between the ages of 6 and 12 with the
 goal of enhancing the educational, social, and moral development of
 its members; and
 WHEREAS, Under the skillful leadership of director Renee
 Sweeney, the Calderon Branch offers programs that promote good
 nutrition and physical activity and encourage sound decision
 making; a variety of sports, fitness, and recreational activities
 are also provided in the club's gymnasium, swimming pool,
 playground, arts room, and technology lab, and the BGCSA conducts
 clothing drives, art competitions, and giveaways for the benefit of
 residents throughout the neighborhood; and
 WHEREAS, By reinforcing positive behavior, encouraging
 responsibility, and emphasizing a code of ethics and positive
 values, the Calderon Boys and Girls Club is making a meaningful
 difference in the lives of young Texans; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby commend the Calderon Branch of the Boys and
 Girls Clubs of San Antonio for its admirable work in behalf of local
 youth and extend to all those associated with the organization
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
