R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The United Way of the Coastal Bend exceeded its
fund-raising goal in 2012 by bringing in more than $5 million; and
WHEREAS, A force for good in the community, the United Way
seeks long-term solutions in the areas of education, income, and
health; it raises money for organizations and initiatives in the
region that address underlying causes of problems to prevent them
from occurring in the first place; and
WHEREAS, The majority of funding for the United Way of the
Coastal Bend comes from workplace campaigns, and several awards
were given to area companies and local government, with NuStar
Energy receiving special honors; and
WHEREAS, The United Way of the Coastal Bend makes a
difference in the lives of countless Texans through its targeted
contributions, and the agency is indeed deserving of commendation;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the United Way of the Coastal Bend
on raising more than $5 million in 2012 and extend to all those
associated with the organization sincere best wishes for continued
success with their important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the United Way of the Coastal Bend as an expression of
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
