H.R. No. 1429
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The 34th annual Fiesta Mexicana was held in Robstown
on March 2 and 3, 2013, attracting visitors from throughout the
Coastal Bend area; and
WHEREAS, A major fund-raising event for St. Anthony's
Catholic Church and school in Robstown, Fiesta Mexicana began with
a run/walk and then a parade, followed by activities at the Richard
Borchard Regional Fairgrounds; the next day, Father Anthony Blunt
of St. Anthony's held a mass, Fiesta royalty were crowned, and
there was live music, food, and games; and
WHEREAS, The Fiesta Royalty contest included adults and
students from the parish community; contestants for queen of the
fiesta were Katy Saenz and Manuela Ocanas; students participating
included Lucas Miguel Gonzales, the son of Yolanda and Juan
Gonzales, Candace Rose Vasquez, the daughter of Frances Perez and
Herman Vasquez, Jesse Cisneros III, the son of Terry and Jesse
Cisneros, Araceli Consuelo Morales, the daughter of Delia and Jesse
Morales, Eliazar S. Benavidez, the son of Marlen and Eliazar
Benavidez, Madison Pinon, the daughter of Myra and Fernando Pinon,
Ramon "RJ" Martinez, Jr., and Celeste Luna, the son and daughter of
Cris Carrizales and Robert Luna, Austin Ramos and Kaitlyn Ramos,
the son and daughter of Rebecca and Robert Ramos, and Lourdes
Cortez, the daughter of Nuemi and Daniel Garcia; and
WHEREAS, Fiesta Mexicana provides an opportunity for area
residents to come together in support of St. Anthony's church and
school and is a notable contribution to the cultural calendar in
Nueces County; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 34th annual Fiesta Mexicana
organized by St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Robstown; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
