83R20499 MGR-D By: Dutton H.R. No. 1477 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, April 7, 2013, marked a significant milestone in the life of Levetta M. Washington of Houston and a joyous occasion for the family and friends who joined in celebrating her 60th birthday; and WHEREAS, Ms. Washington was born on April 7, 1953, the daughter of Dave and Millie Washington, and grew up with two sisters, Davetta Maria and Sandra, and three brothers, Dave, Jerome, and Ezra Hosea; today, she enjoys spending time with her "fan club," which includes her nieces and nephews Darian Washington, Ezra Washington, Jr., Spencer Rogers, and Jenny Rogers and her great-nephew Joshua Rogers, as well as Nellie Washington; and WHEREAS, A lifelong member of the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, Ms. Washington has given generously of her time and talents to benefit the congregation; she is a Sunday school teacher, special events coordinator, youth leader, and announcing clerk, and she takes part in the women's chorus and Good Samaritans group; and WHEREAS, Ms. Washington is a longtime employee of the Houston Independent School District, and she spends her leisure hours cooking, reading, creating arts and crafts, listening to music, and traveling; inspired by the motto "If I can help somebody as I pass along then my living shall not be in vain," this caring woman shares her time by visiting the sick and housebound, organizing events, and working with children and seniors; and WHEREAS, Blessed with the affection of a host of loved ones and sustained by her strong faith, Levetta Washington may reflect with pride on her many contributions to her community, and it is a pleasure to recognize her for six decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Levetta M. Washington on her 60th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Washington as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
