H.R. No. 1506 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Mahaley Millican, a senior at Aubrey High School, spent her 2013 spring break as a hardworking volunteer for the initiative Eight Days of Hope; and WHEREAS, A nonprofit organization, Eight Days of Hope works in partnership with the St. John the Baptist Parish Disaster Recovery Center to help rebuild the homes of LaPlace, Louisiana, families hit hard by Hurricane Isaac; to take part in the effort, Ms. Millican joined some members of her family and of New Hope Baptist Church for the trip to Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Willingly accepting the rustic accommodations provided for the volunteers, Ms. Millican contributed her time and energy toward pulling down damaged ceilings and insulation and removing floorboards in damaged homes, and she also helped spruce up the city park by painting whatever was needed; and WHEREAS, Mahaley Millican has made a positive difference in the lives of her fellow citizens, and she is indeed worthy of special recognition for her dedication and generosity; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby honor Mahaley Millican for her volunteerism with Eight Days of Hope and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Millican as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
