No. 1566 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Alpha Delta Pi sorority is holding its Grand Convention in Dallas on June 26-30, 2013; and WHEREAS, Founded in 1851, Alpha Delta Pi was established at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, by Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald and five of her closest friends; the organization later expanded to other college campuses and today has more than 140 chapters in the United States and Canada; and WHEREAS, Alpha Delta Pi seeks to encourage high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character, and its alumnae have gone on to make significant contributions in diverse fields of endeavor; and WHEREAS, The group also provides valuable support to the Ronald McDonald House; in addition to contributing more than $5 million to the charity, members regularly volunteer their time cooking and cleaning at a number of its locations; and WHEREAS, Throughout its history, Alpha Delta Pi has helped countless young women reach their full potential and make a positive difference in the world around them, and its members may indeed reflect with pride on their organization's many accomplishments and on its special role in their lives; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby honor the Alpha Delta Pi sorority on the occasion of its Grand Convention and extend to its members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
