H.R. No. 1598
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Gainesville High School seniors Conner Markle and Ty
Hayes have qualified to participate in the 2013 National Speech and
Debate Tournament of the National Forensic League; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Markle and Mr. Hayes will join some 3,000 other
high school students this June in Birmingham, Alabama, where they
will compete for $200,000 in college scholarships; and
WHEREAS, These talented young Texans earned this honor by
besting their rivals at the district meet in Melissa; the
Gainesville students won every round as they defeated teams from
other 5A schools; and
WHEREAS, Ty Hayes and Conner Markle are eloquent and
convincing public speakers, and the skill and knowledge that they
have acquired through their debate activities will serve them well
throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ty Hayes and Conner Markle of
Gainesville High School on qualifying for the 2013 National
Forensic League tournament and extend to them sincere best wishes
for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Hayes and Mr. Markle as an expression of high
regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
