No. 1600 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Harris County Sheriff's Office, under the leadership of Sheriff Adrian Garcia, has been awarded the 2013 Community Service Award by the Asian/Pacific American Heritage Association; and WHEREAS, With more than 4,000 employees, the HCSO is the largest sheriff's office in the state, the third largest in the country, and the largest nationally to be recognized by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies; this notable law enforcement department is responsible for the security of the nearly four million residents of Harris County; and WHEREAS, The personnel of the HCSO work to protect and educate their fellow residents through a myriad of worthy programs, such as Neighborhood Crime Watch, "stranger danger" education for children, home-alone security lessons, and gun safety; moreover, the agency strives to prevent drug use, curb bullying, and thwart business burglary and robbery; and WHEREAS, Truly fulfilling its mission statement, the Harris County Sheriff's Office is enhancing the safety and protecting the trust of the county's citizens by enforcing the law with integrity and professionalism, and it indeed merits this special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby honor Sheriff Adrian Garcia and the employees of the Harris County Sheriff's Office on their receipt of the 2013 Community Service Award from the Asian/Pacific American Heritage Association and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Harris County Sheriff's Office as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
