 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Maverick Walker of Dripping Springs is leading the
 charge as the hero of the Arthritis Foundation's Austin Arthritis
 Walk, which is taking place on April 27, 2013; and
 WHEREAS, A fifth-grade student and an eighth-generation
 Texan, Maverick awoke one morning in 2010 and found himself unable
 to walk; a diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis and juvenile
 idiopathic arthritis marked the beginning of a difficult road to
 recovery and with it a battery of tests, injections, and infusions,
 all of which Maverick has faced with a positive attitude; and
 WHEREAS, Having made steady progress, Maverick has since
 returned to many of the activities he loves; in addition to playing
 baseball and basketball and hunting alongside his father, he is
 active in the youth group at his church and is a member of his
 school's student council; he has earned the admiration and
 affection of his peers and teachers alike for his good cheer and
 often dry sense of humor, as well as for his willingness to stand up
 for others; and
 WHEREAS, On April 27, this bright and courageous young Texan
 is adding one more item to his impressive list of accomplishments
 when he serves as the Austin Arthritis Walk Hero; with
 determination and the support of a host of family and friends,
 Maverick is sure to succeed in this exciting new challenge, and his
 spirit and enthusiasm will continue to inspire all who know him;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Maverick Walker as the 2013 Austin
 Arthritis Walk Hero and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
 future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Maverick as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
