No. 1611 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Each year, Altrusa International of Richardson presents the Outstanding Women of Today - Builders of Tomorrow Award to women who have made exceptional contributions in their chosen fields, and a notable group of individuals garnered this prestigious accolade in 2011 and 2012; and WHEREAS, Recipients are selected based on the determination, innovation, and leadership they have demonstrated in their professions, with awards being presented in small business, education, government, nonprofit, and corporate categories; in addition, those in the early stages of their career are eligible for the Outstanding Woman of Tomorrow honor; and WHEREAS, In 2011, recipients included Pamela K. Quinn of LeCroy Center for Educational Telecommunications, Sally L. Crawford of Jones Day Law Firm, Kirsten Brandt James of Junior Players, Susan McMahan of Close to You, Inc., and Celina Ann Cardenas of the Richardson Independent School District; and WHEREAS, The 2012 award winners were Lacy Durham of Deloitte Tax, Janice Peters of Hudson Peters Commercial, Rhonda Bonner of the Richardson Police Department, Janna Gardner of the Healing Hands Ministries, Susan Barkley of the School of World Languages, Cultures, and Communications at Richland College, and Lois Reed of the Dallas Morning News; and WHEREAS, Through their many professional accomplishments, these exemplary Texans have garnered the lasting respect of their colleagues and fellow citizens alike, and their efforts make them worthy role models for women across the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the 2011 and 2012 recipients of the Altrusa Outstanding Women of Today - Builders of Tomorrow Award and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the honorees as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
