 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
 by a great and enduring love, Carl and Janice Garner of Dripping
 Springs are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on June 8,
 2013; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Garner met on a blind date in 1962 and
 were united in matrimony the following year; they have nurtured a
 fulfilling relationship that has been made even richer with the
 addition of two children, Doug and Carla, as well as five
 grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Micah, Reagan, and Lauren, by whom
 they are affectionately known as "Pawpaw and MomMom"; and
 WHEREAS, In the early days of their marriage, Mr. Garner was
 a football coach, and Mrs. Garner worked for the Federal Aviation
 Agency; Mr. Garner later served as the Bible Chair Director for
 Navarro College and Southwest Texas State University, with
 Mrs. Garner joining him in a secretarial capacity; since the 1980s,
 Mr. Garner has taught at Southwest School of Bible Studies and
 served as a preacher with Dripping Springs church of Christ; and
 WHEREAS, Cherished by all who know them, the Garners enjoy
 spending time with their family and keeping in touch with former
 students; moreover, Mr. Garner is an avid golfer, and Mrs. Garner
 delights in cooking; and
 WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the
 world during the past half-century, this devoted husband and wife
 have remained constant in their commitment to each other, and the
 strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges
 and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Carl and Janice Garner on their
 golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
 for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Garner as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
