R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, In recognition of Older Americans Month in May,
residents of Ector County are joining together for the 10th Annual
Senior Celebration, which is taking place in Odessa on May 15, 2013;
and
WHEREAS, Hosted by the newspaper Dos Mundos, the Senior
Celebration will provide older adults in the area as well as their
friends, family members, and caregivers the chance to enjoy a day of
fun, good food, and entertainment while learning more about the
many social services, organizations, and volunteer opportunities
available to them; the theme of this year's event is "South of the
Border"; and
WHEREAS, Local health care providers, such as Medical Center
Hospital, along with a number of home health agencies and
pharmacies are sponsoring the event, and a variety of free health
screenings and demonstrations will be offered that day; and
WHEREAS, Older Americans Month presents an ideal occasion to
acknowledge the wisdom, perspectives, and experiences that senior
citizens bring to the lives of their loved ones and to the culture
at large, and it is indeed fitting to offer our gratitude and a
heartfelt salute to these esteemed elders; now, therefore, be it

ESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 10th Annual Senior Celebration
in Ector County and extend to the organizers and attendees sincere
best wishes for a successful and rewarding event.
