 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
 a close with the passing of Vickie Lynn Willard Patterson of
 Gonzales on April 23, 2012, at the age of 60; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of Eugene Powell Willard and Dorothy
 Neal Willard, Vickie Willard was born on September 6, 1951, in San
 Antonio; she graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School and
 earned a degree in education from Southwest Texas State University
 in San Marcos, where she was a member of the Chi Omega fraternity;
 moreover, she was on the college dance team, the Southwest Texas
 Strutters, and she continued to support the group throughout her
 life; and
 WHEREAS, She married James Wayne Patterson, and their years
 of devoted matrimony were further enriched by the addition of a
 daughter, Jayme, and a son, James; the couple raised their children
 in Houston and later moved to a ranch in Gonzales County; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Patterson taught for many years in San Antonio
 and Houston, and she was active in the community as a founding
 member of the Daughters of Liberty Republican Women in Houston,
 which she twice served as president; she also contributed her time
 and talents to the Harris County Republican Party and served on the
 Greater Houston Council Republican Women Board of Directors; she
 was a valued member of Second Baptist Church and School while in
 Houston and joined Memorial Heights Baptist Church on arriving in
 Gonzales; she subsequently became a leader there as a dedicated
 board member of the Memorial Heights Grace Christian Academy; and
 WHEREAS, In recognition of her outstanding civic
 contributions, Mrs. Patterson received the Volunteer of the Year
 Award for Senatorial District 7 from the Republican Party of Texas,
 and in 1994, she was included in Who's Who of the Republican Party;
 and
 WHEREAS, While the life of Vickie Patterson ended far too
 soon, memories of her optimism, generosity, and wonderful sense of
 humor remain to comfort and inspire all those who were privileged to
 know her; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Vickie Lynn Willard
 Patterson and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family:
 to her husband, James Wayne Patterson; to her daughter, Jayme
 Patterson Mason, and her husband, Richard; to her son, James
 Patrick Patterson, and his wife, Danielle; to her granddaughters,
 Taylor and Katherine Mason and Rachel and Reagan Patterson; to her
 parents, Eugene Powell Willard and Dorothy Neal Willard; to her
 brother, Eugene Neal Willard, and his wife, Cheryl; and to her other
 relatives and many friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Vickie
 Patterson.
