 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Lorena High School softball team claimed the
 District 17-3A championship with a 3-1 victory over China Spring on
 April 16, 2013; and
 WHEREAS, Having clinched a share of the title with a win over
 West High School in their previous outing, the Lady Leopards
 entered the game against China Spring with strong momentum, seeking
 their first outright district crown since 2010; and
 WHEREAS, Lorena struggled at the plate early in the game, but
 winning pitcher Kayla Donaldson limited the opposing team to one
 run to keep the score close; the Lady Leopard bats came alive in the
 fifth inning as key doubles by Amber Fuchs and Cheyenne Bell, as
 well as a China Spring defensive miscue, brought home three runs to
 secure the victory; and
 WHEREAS, Guided by Coach Steve Dolezel, the Lady Leopards
 will enter the postseason with an impressive record of 23 wins and
 just 5 losses, including a 9-1 mark in district play, and their
 title-winning performance has earned them a first-round bye; and
 WHEREAS, Winning a district championship is the result of
 countless hours of hard work and an unwavering commitment to
 excellence, and these talented student-athletes may take
 justifiable pride in their notable accomplishment; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Lorena High School softball
 team on winning the District 17-3A championship and extend to the
 team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
 continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
