R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Armando Trevino of Ball High School in Galveston has
been named Teacher of the Year by the Galveston County Daily News;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Trevino, a longtime teacher at Ball High,
recently came out of retirement to teach English as a second
language; with great patience, care, and encouragement, he has
helped countless students with limited proficiency gain new
confidence in English; and
WHEREAS, Outside the classroom, this dynamic educator played
a crucial role in securing a grant for the school to improve
attendance; dedicated to the success of his students, he holds them
accountable for their actions and has worked with them to decrease
truancy; and
WHEREAS, Teachers play a vital role in preparing the next
generation of Texans for the challenges and opportunities of the
future, and Armando Trevino works to instill in his students the
language skills and sense of responsibility that will serve them
well in every aspect of their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Armando Trevino on his selection as
Teacher of the Year by the Galveston County Daily News and extend to
him sincere best wishes for continued success with his important
work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Trevino as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
