R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Karmina Martinez-Ruiz has been selected to receive
the Leslie P. Daughtry Scholarship in recognition of her hard work
and commitment to academic excellence; and
WHEREAS, Established in memory of former Galveston County
Daily News publisher Leslie P. Daughtry, the scholarship honors
outstanding college-bound seniors from each of the area's public
and private high schools; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Martinez-Ruiz is a student at Friendswood High
School, where she has demonstrated tremendous drive and dedication
in achieving her goals; and
WHEREAS, A source of tremendous pride to her family, this
outstanding young Texan may take justifiable pride in her
achievements and look forward with optimism to the challenges and
opportunities that lie ahead; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Karmina Martinez-Ruiz on receiving
the Leslie P. Daughtry Scholarship and extend to her sincere best
wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Martinez-Ruiz as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
