H.R. No. 2167 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Vern Lee Storey of Bridge City, who passed away on April 14, 2013, at the age of 84; and WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Southeast Texas, Vern Storey was born to George and Minnie Anderson Storey on March 5, 1929, in Port Arthur; he married Betty Sue Wilson Langston, and the couple enjoyed many devoted years of matrimony; their lives were enriched by 6 children, Joe, Chad, Brad, Gary, Douglas, and Vicki, and their family eventually grew to include 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mr. Storey was a locomotive engineer with Texaco for 35 years before his retirement; he previously answered his country's call to duty and served valiantly in the United States Air Force and Navy for 35 years; a man of strong faith, he was a valued member of the First Baptist Church in Bridge City; and WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Vern Storey will always remember him with great admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Vern Lee Storey and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Betty Sue Wilson Langston Storey; to his sons, Gary Storey, Sr., Douglas Storey and his wife, Dawn, Chad Langston and his wife, Amy, and Brad Langston; to his daughter, Vicki Nixon, and her husband, Skipper; to his grandchildren, Joe Langston, Jr., Monica Biggs and her husband, Mark, Jennifer, Allison, and Merri Anne Nixon, and Laren, Christopher, Helen, Gary, and Stephanie Storey; to his great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Vern Storey.
