No. 2472 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Karli Victoria Overstreet of Kountze has recorded a host of accomplishments in the course of her academic career; and WHEREAS, The 2012 salutatorian of Kountze High School, Ms. Overstreet was actively involved in the National Honor Society and was a member of the Campus Improvement Committee; she excelled in competition, playing for the varsity softball team and earning first team all-district and offensive MVP awards, as well as taking part in UIL contests with the Kountze High School calculator team; in addition, she was a dedicated member of FFA and the King's Regiment drum line; and WHEREAS, Now a student in the College of Engineering at Lamar University, Ms. Overstreet has been repeatedly recognized for her stellar academic record; the recipient of an Engineering Excellence Scholarship from the university and of yearly grants from the College of Engineering, she has also received a scholarship from the Business and Professional Women organization and a Mirabeau B. Lamar Award of Excellence scholarship from both the Pine and Saratoga Masonic Lodges; Ms. Overstreet was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta and the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Societies in her freshman year, and she was named to the fall 2012 Dean's List; a member of the national and Lamar University chapters of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, she is currently completing a summer engineering internship; and WHEREAS, Karli Overstreet has earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates wherever she has gone, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Karli Victoria Overstreet on her many outstanding achievements and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Overstreet as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
