No. 2668 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, San Elizario High School students Daniel Calderon and Michael Johnson have become a source of pride for their school and community by qualifying for the University Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet, which was held on May 10 and 11, 2013, in Austin; and WHEREAS, These accomplished members of the Eagles track team earned their place at the state meet with their performances at the 4A Region I competition on April 26 and 27 in Abilene; and WHEREAS, Mr. Calderon, a senior, won the 400-meter race with a time of 48.41 seconds, while Mr. Johnson, a sophomore, claimed victory in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in 1 minute, 55.45 seconds; both athletes went on to match their skills against the other top runners in Texas as they vied for the title of state champion; and WHEREAS, Under the knowledgeable guidance of coaches Cesar Morales and Michael Warfield, these two young men have distinguished themselves as competitors of admirable ability and dedication, and they may take justifiable pride in their achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Daniel Calderon and Michael Johnson of San Elizario High School on qualifying for the 2013 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Calderon and Mr. Johnson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
