 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Adan Ernesto Oviedo Pérez, a visiting scholar at The
 University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M International
 University, has distinguished himself in the fields of
 international geoscience development and microseismic technology,
 and he has furthered the relationship between the United States and
 Mexico in the provision of technology used in the development of the
 Eagle Ford Shale; and
 WHEREAS, Born in the Mexican city of Veracruz in 1956,
 Mr. Oviedo Pérez studied geology at the National Polytechnic
 Institute and the National University of Mexico and went on to earn
 a master's degree in business from Universidad Olmeca in a joint
 program with Tulane University; in addition, he has participated in
 the Advanced Petroleum Program of The University of Tulsa, the
 Asset Organization Program of Petroleos Mexicanos and BP, and the
 High Direction Program of the Instituto Panamericano de Alta
 Direccion de Empresa; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Oviedo Pérez has served as president of Compania
 Mexicana de Exploraciones, S. A. de C. V., since 2007; he previously
 was employed for more than two decades by PEMEX and rose to become
 exploration vice president; his wide-ranging experience includes
 exploration strategies definition and execution, volumetrics and
 risk analysis, and technology scouting and monitoring; the author
 of numerous papers, he has shared his knowledge and expertise at
 conferences around the world; he has served as president of the
 Mexican Association of Petroleum Engineers and the Mexican
 Association of Petroleum Geologists, and he is the recipient of
 many accolades, among them the Miguel A. Zenteno Award from the
 Associacion de Ingenieros Petroleros de Mexico and the Century
 International Quality ERA Award 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Oviedo Pérez has greatly benefited the energy
 industry in Texas and the United States through his endeavors, and
 his accomplishments indeed merit special recognition; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Adan Ernesto Oviedo Pérez for his
 achievements in the fields of international geoscience development
 and microseismic technology and commend him for his role in the
 advancement of the relationship between the United States and
 Mexico in the provision of technology used in the development of the
 Eagle Ford Shale; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Oviedo Pérez as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
