H.R. No. 3177 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, St. Alcuin Montessori School in Dallas is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding in 2014; and WHEREAS, Established in 1964 by Episcopal priest Albert Taliaferro, St. Alcuin Montessori originally operated as Montessori School of Dallas, offering classes out of a home in Highland Park for nearly 70 preschool-age children; now located on a picturesque 12-acre campus, the institution has expanded to include toddler, primary, and elementary programs, as well as an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme for the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades; and WHEREAS, St. Alcuin Montessori seeks to develop innovative thinkers and passionate learners; faculty members, many of whom are trained abroad at the Association Montessori Internationale, engage their charges by challenging and nurturing them as they develop self-confidence, competency, imagination, and the desire to lead lives of positive influence; and WHEREAS, For half a century, the teachers and staff of St. Alcuin Montessori School have committed themselves to meeting the educational needs of their students, and the school has played a vital role in helping many young Texans build a bright and prosperous future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of St. Alcuin Montessori School and extend to all those associated with the institution sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
