R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, McKinney has been ranked number two on Money
magazine's 2012 list of Best Places to Live among America's small
cities; and
WHEREAS, The magazine considered U.S. cities with
populations between 50,000 and 300,000 and rated them according to
a number of factors, including safety, health care, home
affordability, job growth, diversity, leisure activities, and
quality of schools, along with such intangibles as community
spirit; and
WHEREAS, Money praised McKinney's blend of vintage charm and
modern amenities, as exemplified by its historic downtown square;
among the many assets of this thriving community are its variety of
housing options, business-friendly tax climate, and burgeoning job
growth, and residents also appreciate their hometown's proximity to
Dallas as well as its easy access to golf courses and luxuriant
green space; and
WHEREAS, McKinney's impressive showing on the list is further
confirmation of the high quality of life enjoyed by its citizens,
and all who reside there may take great pride in the well-deserved
attention that their community has received; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature congratulate the city of McKinney on its selection for
second place on Money magazine's 2012 list of Best Places to Live
and extend to its residents sincere best wishes for the future.
