 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Words cannot diminish the sorrow caused by the
 untimely death of Cody Paul Stephens of Crosby, who passed away on
 May 6, 2012, at the age of 18; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Scott and Melody Stephens, Cody Stephens
 was born on October 21, 1993, in Crosby; he attended Crosby High
 School, where he excelled on the gridiron and was a leader on the
 Cougars' 4A bi-district championship team in 2010; this talented
 athlete had recently received a football scholarship to Tarleton
 State University; and
 WHEREAS, In his leisure hours, Mr. Stephens was an avid
 outdoorsman with an interest in agricultural mechanics, which he
 pursued through his participation in 4-H and the FFA; he enjoyed
 raising show animals and was the winner of a scholarship from the
 Crosby Fair and Rodeo; he also shared his time with children at
 local schools, where he read each week as part of a mentoring
 program; and
 WHEREAS, Admired for his generosity, leadership, and
 determination, Cody Stephens brightened the lives of those around
 him, and his loved ones will forever cherish their memories of time
 spent in his company; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Cody Paul Stephens and
 extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
 parents, Scott and Melody Stephens; to his brother, Clay Stephens;
 to his sister, Katie Stephens; to his grandparents, Paul and
 Frankie Stephens and Shelton and Faye Robinson; to his aunts and
 uncles, Pam and Pat Parsons, Donna Johnston-Bunch and her husband,
 Billy, Allen Robinson and his wife, Cathy, and Randy Knowles; to his
 cousins, Jeff and Amy Robinson, Nathan Johnston, Kelsey and Jared
 Knowles, and Kara and Kyle Parsons; and to his other relatives and
 many friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cody Paul
 Stephens.
